The Allahabad High Court today rejected the bail plea of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, described by the prosecution as the alleged mastermind of the September 2025 Bareilly violence. Hon’ble Justice A.K.S. Deshwal’s single bench passed the order after hearing both sides at length.
Prosecution’s Effective Presentation in Court
Under the directions of Additional Advocate General (AAG) Anoop Trivedi and under the supervision of Paritosh Malviya, AGA (First), Nitesh Kumar Srivastava, AGA, effectively presented the Government’s case against Tauqeer Raza Khan in the Bareilly riot matter before the High Court. The prosecution placed case diary entries, pre- and post-incident videos, and other digital evidence on record.
It was submitted that the conspiracy for the violence on September 26, 2025, was hatched on September 19, 2025. Arms were allegedly collected, people were incited, and organised efforts were made to mobilise crowds. The post-incident video and other material were cited to establish the accused’s active role as the main conspirator throughout the period from September 19 to 26.
The prosecution clarified that even though the name did not appear in the initial FIR, the contents of the FIR and subsequent evidence clearly pointed to his central involvement. Therefore, no ground existed for granting bail.
Defence Arguments
The defence contended that Maulana Tauqeer Raza was not named as an accused in the original FIR and that his name surfaced only during investigation. It was further argued that several other accused persons in the same matter had already been granted bail or anticipatory bail. The defence denied any role in the conspiracy.
Court’s Decision after Detailed Hearing
After considering the submissions from both sides and with both parties given full opportunity to present their case, the Hon’ble Court rejected the bail application. The order is being viewed as a significant development for the investigation and prosecution in the September 2025 Bareilly riots.
Maulana Tauqeer Raza continues to remain in judicial custody in Fatehgarh Jail.
